Daphne Heemskerk

Daphne’s work shows a fascination with systems and structures. In her visual research into systems she approaches the material as an artist and a designer. Not only by using existing systems (the way colours mingle) but also by creating new systems (her interest into languages and scripts). In the way she bonds typography with content, the work also shows interest into poetic aspects. She is user as well as provider of systems, an interesting paradox that plays a part in her work more than ones. The result shows recognizable designs, which at the same time becomes estranged from systems in reality. Heemskerk aims to play with her public perspectives, or more specifically, to directly influence the experience of the individual.
